Our long wait is over! Nature Preschool finally got its wish for snow – with plenty more on the way! This week the children read so many winter books, created some stories of their own and even acted them out! We prepped ourselves for the oncoming blizzard by making snowmen sculptures, painting ice, creating colorful mittens and building cozy animal dens that we curled up in for a good story!
Our favorite class moments this week:
-The Flying Squirrels went out in the snow and made snow fairies! They also looked like prints of flying squirrels gliding in the air!
-The Coyotes got onstage and put on a play inspired by one of our favorite stories, Going On A Bear Hunt.
-The Rabbit class created clay snowmen that they took home!
-While reading The Mitten, by Jan Brett, the Chipmunks tried to be like the animals in the story and fit into one giant mitten! It was a tight squeeze!
-The Bears came together in their bear fort they created and were great at welcoming new friends!
-The Foxes hiked to the meadow to avoid the winter winds, played in the tall grass and went for a hike in the snow!
We couldn’t be more thrilled about the winter storm headed our way! We are looking forward to more snow exploration, snowballs and sledding!
