Presented by Chesapeake Mental Health Collaborative at Irvine Nature Center: Healing in the Wild allows for a safe space where people can gain tools to cope with the pain of loss. We’ll explore resources to call upon when feelings of grief seem overwhelming. This day retreat will provide a place to connect with others and the natural world. This unique retreat is a way for nature to provide the deepest peace and solace for people on the grief journey. The day retreat is open to anyone experiencing loss, including the death of a loved one, loss of a job, divorce, loss of a pet, and other types of loss.
“Spirituality and nature can play an important role in soothing symptoms of grief, including anxiety, stress, and depression. Studies have shown that even contemplating imagery of natural scenery can significantly lower stress hormone levels. Imagine what actually walking into Mother Nature’s embrace can do to your psyche at a time when you most need solace, peace, and quiet.” – Jennifer Alan, Balanced Rock.
