December’s Volunteer of the Month is the fantastic Volunteer Naturalist, Gayle Parnell! Gayle has been volunteering with Irvine for a little over a year and has quickly made herself a core member of our volunteer team. As a former elementary school librarian, Gayle has worked with students of different ages and abilities, which enables her to lead many of our educational programs at Irvine. She can be found leading school field trips, Nature in the Classroom outreaches, and Irvine’s after-school program, Eco-Explorers. Gayle is wonderful with kids, and not afraid to be silly or get messy, whether it’s playing “Mud Monster” or making pumpkin-canos (volcanic pumpkins!) with Eco-Explorers.
Thank you Gayle, for all that you do!
