May’s Volunteer of the Month is the fantastic Alicia Snellings! Alicia has been volunteering with Irvine for 4 years in the preschool and with our parent-child programs. Beth Savitz, Irvine’s Early Childhood Programs Coordinator, nominated Alicia for this honor, and had this to say about Alicia:
“Alicia has been my sidekick for the last four years. We started at Irvine the same year and were both “rookies.” Her ability to play with the kids and relate to them in one moment and then instinctively jump into the adult role and assist me or a parent is her true talent. She has been the perfect assistant in the Parent & Child Programs where we often have younger siblings attend. Though Mom wants to focus on her older child she often has her hands full with a little one. Alicia to the rescue! Whether it’s assisting with a baby carrier, taking the older child on the trail or chasing after the little one who just took off into the exhibit hall, Alicia is always on it! The parents have been so grateful to have her and the kids just love her!! I myself, could never have pulled off such a successful program without her by my side. From setting up, to cleaning up, she has been my chief photographer, craft supply preparer, and friend. I will miss her at Irvine and can say without a doubt she has been one of the best volunteers ever!”
We couldn’t say it any better! Alicia will be graduating from Stevenson University this May with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. We know she will go on to great things!
Congratulations Alicia, and best of luck!
