Even though the summer is winding down, it seems to be getting even hotter! Such was the case when Altus Group visited Irvine for an afternoon of community service last week. Despite the hot and humid weather, this group of 19 employee volunteers worked on several different ongoing projects at Irvine.
Half of the team worked down at Irvine’s Native American site, prepping the area for fall programming. The group harvested saplings to complete the longhouse frame, and installed panels of tulip poplar bark to cover the structure. The second half of the team worked in the Outdoor Classroom, getting it ready for the first day of preschool! The team replaced the remaining portions of the old bamboo fence and broke down the old bamboo to be transported. Lastly, two volunteers worked on finishing up the Mud Pie Kitchen, including installing a new palette back and adding fun kitchen utensils and baking supplies.
Thank you so much to the Altus Group team!
