A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth’s shadow causes a full moon to have a hazy red appearance. A Super Moon is seen when a full moon coincides with the moon’s closest point to Earth during its orbit. Put them together on September 27th and you have a Super Lunar Eclipse! It’s the first one since 1982.
Join us for this spectacular celestial event that can be seen from Maryland. Irvine’s meadows offer spectacular views of the night sky and our forests buffer the city lights. Oh, and the next time you can witness this event? In the year 2033.

Stay up late for this awesome celestial event. The Harvest Moon will be the closest the moon will be to the earth this year. Plus witness a full lunar eclipse! Irvine is the perfect place to view this exciting event, as our trees block out the surrounding light and spotting scopes are available for use. All ages.
