Looking to attract a wide array of beautiful birds? Learn helpful tips for turning your backyard feeding station into a magnet for a greater variety of birds. Explore which foods you should offer to attract new species, how to keep birds safe with proper hygiene, and which feeder types – and locations – generally offer the best protection from both predators and those pesky squirrels. We’ll also discuss how simple ‘citizen science’ endeavors, like Project FeederWatch, can make monitoring backyard birds even more fun, while contributing to a continent-wide scientific database! We’ll end with a visit to Irvine’s bird-feeding blinds to learn how to easily identify some of the ‘look-alike’ species you might attract. This program is intended for adults.
