This Week’s Adventures: We explored all that books and print language has to offer by reading about animals in winter.
Favorite Activities: We loved making salt dough letters and reading classic stories. We illustrated little books and dictated stories from photographs that were taken during class. We loved painting our hands to make a Chicka-chicka Boom-boom tree! While outside at a favorite fort, students narrated a class adventure story, too! After ready The Great Blueness by Arnold Lobel, students did an experiment mixing colors. We also acted out parts from Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
Next’s Week’s Theme: Winter Whispers (“Qq”)
Try this at home: Select a story you’ve never read before. Without reading the words, page through the story and encourage your child to “read” the book based on illustrations.
